LG 42LX6900 42 inch Widescreen 3D TV

New for 2011 the LG 42LX6900 42 inch widescreen TV comes with a whole host of features, not least of which, is its 3D ready capacity. With 3D TV constantly advancing and on the horizon as the next big thing to break the mainstream consumer market, it is always a great choice to make sure that your TV is 3D compatible just as this one is.

So what is the picture like? Well with the LX6900 you can expect crystal clear 3D images projected into your home, providing you with the fully immersive viewing experience that most of us have only ever witnessed inside a movie theatre.

With the ever growing list of 3D films, sports, and TV programs you are constantly provided with new viewing material, and this isn’t even to mention the wide variety of 3D gaming available. The 3D function on this TV will bring video games to life and make you feel almost as though you are there, drawing you into the game and providing a truly thrilling experience.

The LX6900 can be used in conjunction with standard 2D television also, emitting a crisp and clear picture far surpassing that of earlier models. When used through HD channels you will really notice the difference and for sports the Tru-motion setting will prevent blurring, enhancing the all round viewing experience.

This TV also comes with all the added features expected, including internet access and built in freeview HD. Being an LED TV it is also ultra slim and so can easily be mounted on a wall, taking up only the minimal of space.

Just remember that to use the 3D function you will need to wear the specially designed 3D glasses that come with it, and perhaps this is the only downside to this superb television, in that only 1 pair is supplied and they can be a bit pricey to buy for all the family. However, for all those after the most out of their viewing experience then it’s a small price to pay in terms of the rewards you will reap.

BlackBerry PlayBook

Six months after it was first announced, RIM’s tablet is finally here. But, should you be resisting your urges for an iPad, and has RIM with its new operating system got what it takes?

The 7-inch tablet from RIM is flat, black, and minimal in its design. The front is a sheet of glass; the rear is a slab of plastic. Measuring 194 x 130 x 10mm, the PlayBook is around the same size as a paperback.

Weighing 425g it is light and easy to manage. You aren’t going to notice this in your bag and depending on your suit, you should be able to fit it in your pocket, yes it’s that small. Those who opt for a more causal work attire will be happy to hear it’s combat trousers (pants) friendly too.

Free Laptops

It’s not just phones you get free with contracts – laptops are also being offered with no initial outlay as part of mobile broadband deals. For business people, or if you want to watch films while on the move, accessing mobile broadband through your laptop is much more practical than a phone.

So which network?

Choosing your broadband network is pretty much the same as choosing your phone network. The main providers are the usual suspects from the phone world – O2, 3 Orange, T-Mobile, Vodafone, to name a few. If you don’t get a good signal on your mobile from one particular provider, you won’t receive the internet well either. Speed is not great on mobile broadband when compared with fixed-line options, so make sure you have the best signal possible.

And which contract?

Consider what you will be using your laptop for – if it’s just checking emails and viewing websites then you won’t need access to a huge amount of data. However if you want to download the latest movie, then choose a contract that accommodates this – if you exceed your monthly limits, this can prove expensive.

Check the small print – some laptop contracts will tie you in for 24 months – that’s a long-time to be unhappy with the deal you’ve chosen.

If you don’t want to be tied into a contract, but still want broadband on the move, pay as you go mobile broadband can be accessed via a dongle, which is plugged into your machine through the USB. You won’t get a free laptop this way, but if you’ve got one already, it’s a great way to get more usage out of your existing bit of kit. Free laptop deals are always more a month than simply paying for broadband, so if there’s nothing wrong with what you’ve got already, don’t get bamboozled by a seemingly great offer.

Saving Money with Cheap Mobile Broadband

Life seems to be getting ever more expensive, and with the after effects of the credit crunch kicking in, most people are finding their disposable income dwindling. If you are having to take a hard look at your monthly outgoings, then maybe your internet access is an area where you could save some cash. If you are paying for an expensive home broadband package, then you could consider replacing this with a cheap mobile broadband option. Mobile broadband has had widespread uptake over the last few years, but the services available still vary greatly in performance across the country.

The biggest factor governing whether you can use mobile broadband for your main internet connection is how good the performance will be where you want to use it the most. If that’s at home, then your chances are much better if you live in an urban area where you will find 3G masts, as opposed to in rural countryside, where much of the time mobile broadband is still impractical GPRS. For cheapness, you really want to be looking at Pay As You Go mobile broadband as opposed to a contract.

Pay As You Go will work out especially cheap if you don’t need daily access to the internet. If you think you have a reasonable chance of getting 3G, then next thing you have to consider is which network to go for. You can take a look at some speed test results at BestMobileBroadband.co.uk, but the best network will depend on the local mobile signal availability where you live. If you ask your friends about their mobile phone signal strengths, you might get an indication of expected mobile broadband quality. If that’s not possible, then you’ll be relieved to hear that PAYG dongles are only around £20, so if the first network you try is no good, it won’t break the bank to try another.

We would suggest 3 Mobile, Vodafone or T-Mobile as worth a try first. Under optimum conditions, all of these networks offer fast mobile broadband, but as ever, performance does vary with location, and heavily populated areas can often be a particular problem as the network can get overloaded at peak times. Hopefully, with continued investment in the mobile broadband networks this will gradually become less of a problem. 3 Mobile is well known for cheap mobile broadband, offering some of the best data usage rates, and would be our first choice. However, bear in mind 3 Mobile currently only offers a 30 day TopUp, whereas T-Mobile offers a daily rate at £2 per day (although last time we tried, a minimum TopUp amount of £5 still applies, so you can’t buy a single day).

You have to strike a balance between best overall data rate and whether you’ll be using it for just some of the month (daily or weekly plans better) or the whole month.

So, there we go, cheap mobile broadband might save you a few pounds per month if you’re lucky enough to live in a good signal area. Of course the other main benefit of mobile broadband is that you can then take your laptop out and about with you. Mobile broadband still does not give the slick experience of the fastest home broadband, but you might be able to check your e-mail or catch up on some work on your travels, and a lot of the time it’s good enough for listening to online radio and YouTube video streaming, so it should help you to chill out a bit too.

Reasons to Buy a Range Cooker

The primary reason to buy a range cooker is that if you like to do a lot of cooking, it should make your life easier. Range cookers give you more cooking capacity, both in terms of having more cooking hobs available and having larger capacity ovens. If you currently have a four hob cooker, how many times could you have done with an extra hob available? Even with my unambitious cooking I often find myself in need of extra hob space. If you are someone who regularly tackles complicated recipes, then just think how much help extra hobs would be. At the very least you won’t have to keep moving saucepans around so much. When cooking for large numbers, a range cooker’s large capacity ovens really are a help. Depending on your preferred setup, range cookers can come with two proper ovens, and people find this particularly helpful when entertaining. Cooking the biggest meal of the year, Christmas dinner, becomes much easier when you have a range cooker. If you need to convince your other half that buying a range cooker is a good idea, then mentioning how much easier it will be to cook the turkey might be worth it.

If you really enjoy cooking, then you want to have the best tool available for the job, and that’s a range cooker. Range cookers can be configured to suit your style of cooking, e.g. you can have a separate grill, a fast wok burner, or a griddle plate for searing fish and meat etc. Whatever your ideal cooker would be, there is likely to be a range cooker model out there to match it.

Whilst not as important as the functionality, range cookers bring another attribute to your kitchen, and that is style! Take a look at the wide range of models available and you’ll find many fantastic designs, both classic and contemporary, and some really great colour options; I’ve even seen a range cooker painted with a Union Jack design. The kitchen is one of the most important rooms of the house, and many people spend a lot of their time there. A range cooker can be a great focal point for the room, helping to give you the kitchen of your dreams. Whilst a range cooker may be a substantial investment, it’s one that should give you years of useful service.
