JVC Everio X Review

The JVC Everio X is quite different looking to other, dare one say standard looking, camcorders. About the size of a chunky smart phone, the Everio X is quite modern looking. Controls are duplicated to allow user flexibility, this being achieved by having top-mounted zoom and record buttons, and further controls on the LCD screen.

The camera has a black carbon fibre look which helps with grip, which is a nice touch. For control stability, the Everio X is small and lightweight, weighing just 298 grammes (including battery and memory card). Dimensions are 66 x 124 x 37 mm.

JVC have given the Everio X a 10.3 megapixel CMOS sensor which allows for an outstanding level of digital stills at 9 nine megapixels, and an impressive 1920 x 1080 50i Full HD AVCHD format video. The Everio X also uses a new Konica Minolta HD lens with a 5X optical zoom.

The JVC Everio X would make a great christmas gift for someone looking for the latest digital camera.

JVC Everio X Key Feature

One of the key features of the JVC Everio is the slow motion video recording feature. The camera’s high-speed recording function shoots ultra-slow motion video. Any one of three speeds – 100fps, 250fps and 500fps – can be selected; the faster the recording speed, the slower the playback.

With this function, approximately 2.8-second bursts of video are recorded that are then played back over a period of up to 28 seconds, a maximum of 10 times longer than normal speed.

The Everio GZ-X900 will be available in June 2009.
