Plantronics Voyager 835

Plantronics have launched in the UK their first Dual Microphone headset to combat unwanted background noises – the Plantronics Voyager 835 – which is an enhanced noise canceling Bluetooth headset. Phew, what a mouthful.
The Voyager 835 features AudioIQ dual-microphone technology that separates and enhances the voice, which in theory means the sound quality is improved.
Plantronics claim this is their best Bluetooth headset yet at minimising distracting background sounds and Windsmart technology claims to greatly reduce wind noise making it suitable for using in both noisy indoor and outdoor environments. We haven’t managed to get our hands on one yet to prove this as this headset hasn’t yet launched in the UK, but as soon as it does, we’ll test it.
The Voyager 835 is worn over the ear and is supplied with an ear hook. Weighing in at just 12g it’s definitely lightweight and along with its slim line design backs up its claim of all day wearing comfort. Soft, contoured ear tip are said to channel the sound into the ear to provide the wearer with a loud and clear sound. The talk time is around 5 hours.
The headset seems more conservative in design compared to other Bluetooth headsets but it’s made up for that in it’s level of technological quality by delivering advanced noise canceling technology. Personally, I’d rather have great sound than looks – afterall, I can’t see it when I’m wearing it!
Priced at less than £40, the Plantronics Voyager 835 is one to watch.

I’m a Plantronics Distributor in the US and have been carrying the 835 since October. It’s very lightweight and the sound quality is actually pretty good. Not only does it look good, but it’s also a good performer! I’m not sure if it blocks out quite as much background noise as the Plantronics Voyager 510, but it’s certainly a lot sleeker looking and not as bulky. Another cool feature is that the Plantronics 835 has multipoint technology, this lets you pair your headset to two different devices at the same time. So that let’s me use the headset on my cell and also on my pc for SKYPE (pc must have bluetooth or you need a bluetooth USB adapter to connect to computer). The 835 also has 5hrs of talk time, which is even more than most cell phones. So that means you can spend less time charging and more time using… And that’s always a good thing!
