Sony Z5500 Motionflow 200Hz

Sony use complex calculations in the Z5500, apparently, to work-out three additional frames for every original, upping the frame rate from 50 to 200 per second. The Motionflow 200Hz technology works with Sony’s Image Blur Reduction technology to clean the original frames before creating even sharper images. The bottom line is that the picture quality is pretty darn good.

Sony are pretty pleased with the Z5500 Bravia TV. Hiroshi Sakamoto, Vice President of Sony TV Marketing in Europe, was recently quoted as saying;

“The unique blend of advanced technology and leading design showcased in the BRAVIA™ Z5500 means that you can enjoy crystal-clear, amazingly smooth fast-moving images with Motionflow 200Hz, along with atmospheric sound from the HT-CT500 home theatre speaker.” He went on the say, “We design our TVs to ensure that they contain the latest features and advanced technology, bringing the real world to your living room for a truly realistic and immersive viewing experience, without any compromise to look and feel.”

The Z5500 is also DLNA™ certified, er, so what? What this means is that you can network the Z5500 via the built-in Ethernet port with other DLNA™ enabled devices within your home, even if they’re not in the same room. You can then use your Sony Bravia remote control to access content on connected devices and deliver a true multimedia experience throughout your home – music, pictures, videos etc. without the hassle of tangled wires cluttering your home.

The Z5500 also allows you to connect to the Internet without having to switch on your PC. The Z5500 can display your favourite RSS feeds, and via XMB™ on-screen interface, there’s a choice of handy ‘widgets’ that can be simultaneously viewed while watching your favourite TV shows.

The Z5500 has a CI Plus interface, which offers greater security for broadcasters, enabling them to offer premium content directly to your TV without the need for a separate set-top box. CAMs (Conditional Access Modules) using CI Plus will be available from broadcasters and cable operators supporting this TV. There’s also an integrated MPEG 4 AVC HD tuner which means you won’t need a seperate set-top box.

The Sony Z5500 includes Bravia Sync technology, which simply means you just need one remote control to watch TV and manage your Sony home theatre system and Blu-ray player.
